Welcome to Year 2, where we empower children with independence and we boost their confidence in applying skills and knowledge. With a vibrant group of 58 students organised into two Year 2 classes, supported by three dedicated teachers, our Year 2 journey is filled with exciting themes and hands-on learning.

During the ‘Through the Decades’ theme, students transform into historians, exploring life in the 2000s, 1980s, and 1960s, delving into music, fashion, toys, gadgets, and significant historical events. The ‘Wonderful Earth’ theme turns our Year 2s into geographers, comparing Poringland to an Australian town and expanding their global understanding of continents, oceans, countries, capital cities, and seas. Scientific exploration is a joy, especially during the ‘All Creatures Great and Small’ theme, where students delve into materials, plant growth, human needs, and even enjoy hands-on Design and Technology projects like creating pop-up puppets, sewing minibeasts, and preparing healthy breakfasts. It’s a year of growth, discovery, and exciting exploration!
