Welcome to Year 1 at our primary school! What makes Year 1 truly special is our dedicated focus on fostering independence in a nurturing environment, easing the transition from the Early Years Foundation Stage.

We kick off the year with hands-on activities, gradually building confidence for a smoother transition into a more formal learning style. With up to 60 children distributed across two vibrant classes – Upton with Miss Thompson and Hickling with Mrs Radmore – each class benefits from a full-time teacher and a part-time teaching assistant, along with additional support staff.

It’s our passion and privilege to guide these young learners at the start of their educational journey, engaging them in activities that not only promote learning but also instil a lifelong love for it. Join us on this amazing and rewarding daily adventure.
