As part of our topic on ‘Dinosaurs and Minibeasts, the infant classes explored Poringland Woods.
We have identified trees and plants, explored habitats, studied mini beasts, built dens and played hide and seek.
The children were brilliantly behaved. Thanks to everyone who helped to make it a successful day!
Below are some of the fantastic mini beasts that we found…

From Caterpillars to Butterflies…
Each of the infant classes has been looking after 5 hungry caterpillars. At the end of last week, they has started to build themselves chrysalides. On Monday, our painted lady butterflies have started to emerge.
The children have been transfixed by them! It’s been a wonderful experience for us to share together, seeing them emerge during the day, dry their wings and begin to flutter. We look forward to releasing them, so that they can continue this important life cycle.
