In July 2021, Year 5 took part in an exciting Zoom with Michael Morpurgo to discuss his book ‘Boy Giant’. The children learnt about the inspiration behind the story and Michael also answered questions about his many other books.
Year 5 said:
‘I liked how MM said that when you write, don’t worry about being ‘as good as anybody else’ just enjoy your own writing.’
‘Reading is inspirational.’
‘He was inspired to write about something upsetting that he had seen so felt that he had to write about it. Testing on animals upsets me so I would like to write my own book about this issue so that everybody knows about it.’
‘In the Zoom, he made me aware of how many problems there are in the world. This inspires him to write.’
