Our shared vision for art…
“Art is not just a subject you can learn but an activity that you can practise with your hands, your eyes, your whole personality.” Quentin Blake
At Poringland Primary we aim to engage and inspire children through our teaching of art. Art offers children the opportunity to express themselves freely and imaginatively, learning how to respond to the wider world around them.
Through the use of a wide range of media, studying a diverse collection of artists, children at our school are exposed to high quality art from which they can engage with.
Art is closely linked to our topics however children are also taught stand alone skills lessons to improve their abilities and understanding of how an artists work can have such an impact. Skills such as sketching, painting and sculpture are taught across the key stages to ensure good progression. Children are encouraged to experiment, explore and above all, develop their own sense of self and individualism.
