As a school, we have been set the challenge by East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices (EACH) to raise £400 (over the school year) for equipment for the sensory room, currently being built at The Nook, in Framingham Earl.
Poringland Primary School has appointed a fundraising team of 7 responsible Y6s who will lead fundraising efforts, along with Mrs Hayes. On Monday 12th November, EACH staff spoke to the children in assembly, introducing The Nook and the work they hope to do there. We feel that it is important to make links with this local charity.
On Monday 17th January, 15 of the Choir went carol singing in Poringland, raising £145.37 for EACH.
On Tuesday 8 January, the EACH fundraising team and Mrs Hayes organised a Penny Mile. Each class brought in their spare change and set out lines of coins on the Junior Playground.
The total distance of all lines was 641.94m (not a mile but about 67 double decker lengths!)
3rd distance: Barnby Class 62m
2nd distance: Barton Class 68m
Winning distance: Malthouse Class 187m
The final total raised will be announced once all the change has been counted!
