Perfect Poringland Performance
Match 1: Rackheath 1 – 2 Poringland

In the first match of the day, Poringland excelled against Rackheath; putting two past them. It all started perfectly as we played out from the back, then Henry crossed it in to Charlie who spectacularly scorpion kicked the ball out of the keeper’s reach and into the net! The substitutes cheered and went wild. Shortly after, Oscar ran the whole length of the pitch and with an amazing shot – it was 2 – 0. Rackheath managed to pull one back but it was not enough for them to win the game.

Unlucky Loss
Match 2: Rackheath 3 – 0 Poringland

It was an unfortunate defeat in Poringland’s second match as it was a 3 – 0 loss. The through balls and one – twos were too much for our team to handle. We had chances and when we were 3 – 0 down Theo and Oscar made some brilliant passes and had some excellent shots but just couldn’t score.

Last Minute Drama in Rackheath!
Match 3: Rackheath 2 – 2 Poringland

It’s the final match; our most experienced team against theirs. The game kicks off…in the first moments Poringland’s 3 – 1 – 2 formation is controlling the game well until holes in the defence mean that we go two – nil down. Some heads drop and the half time whistle blows.

As the second half starts Simon finds himself one on one with goalkeeper, HE SHOOTS…but it’s miles round the post. The dream seems to be dying but the team’s encouraging words keep the candle lit.

With 5 minutes left, Henry gets the ball on the wing, he passes to Charlie, Charlie passes to Simon who hits it first time…GOAL! The candle of a dream in their hearts is now a bonfire!

1 minute left and Poringland have a free kick just beyond the centre circle. Simon stands over it. This will be the last kick of the game. He’s only going for power. He smashes it and it takes a  deflection. The keeper goes the wrong way – GOAL! 2 -2. Everyone goes crazy and the final whistle blows.
