Year One have been having a fantastic time over the past two weeks learning all about Chinese New Year!
We have listened to the Chinese New Year story and found out which animal from the story we are, based on the year we were born. Some of us even researched what animals all of our family are too! We had a go with joining in with some colourful and energetic dragon and lion dances, then calmed things down with a bit of Tai Chi and meditation.
We had a super lesson learning the song “Gung Hay Fat Choi,” a Cantonese song wishing people good fortune and happiness in the new year. We’ve gotten really crafty, making Chinese dragons, lanterns and special new year drums. We also had a special Chinese New Year “Crack the Code” maths lesson, where we had to solve the problems to decode the message that revealed our afternoon topic activity for that day.
