On Tuesday 3 March, KS1 and EYFS were visited by local author and illustrator Rob Starling, who has written the books ‘Fergal is Fuming’ and ‘Super Sloth.’ We were treated to an assembly with an interactive story-telling of ‘Super Sloth’ and then Year 2 participated in some character-creating work shops.
Year 5 are currently reading ‘Stig of the Dump’ by Clive King. On Thursday 5th March, they were visited by his wife.
The children and staff very much enjoyed the visits and we hope that many of them were inspired to read more or even aspire to become an author themselves!
For World Book Day, children and staff dressed as favourite book characters and completed special activities within the classroom. The children have all been creating a piece of work about their favourite stories. When completed, this work will be displayed around the school, creating a ‘Favourite Book Trail’ which will be on display from next week.
